A Survey of Underground Railroad, African American, Emancipation, and Antislavery Themes in Muscatine and Muscatine County, Iowa
This survey of Underground Railroad and related themes in Muscatine and Muscatine County is part of an ongoing effort by the City of Muscatine Historic Preservation Commission (MHPC) to identify, evaluate, register, and protect the cultural resources of Muscatine, Muscatine County, Iowa. For this project, the Muscatine County Historic Preservation Commission informally partnered with the city commission, with two members of the county commission directly involved in research for the project. Thus, the scope of the project was designed to not only include Muscatine but also include the remainder of Muscatine County.
